SECIL Strengthens Commitment to Sustainability with the Registration of Two New EPDs in the DAPHabitat System

SECIL – Companhia Geral de Cal e Cimento, S.A. strengthens its leadership in the national cement sector with the registration of two new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in the DAPHabitat system.
These documents refer to two of its cement products manufactured at the Maceira-Liz industrial unit and reflect the company's commitment to promoting more sustainable practices based on transparent and verifiable data.

Products with published EPDs:

• PORTLAND CEMENT CEM I 52.5R – MACEIRA-LIZ (EPD 022:2024)
  A high-strength cement, suitable for demanding structural applications, including high-performance concrete and precast elements. It stands out for its rapid early strength development and high technical performance.
• LIMESTONE PORTLAND CEMENT CEM II/A-L 42.5R – MACEIRA-LIZ (EPD 021:2024)
  This product incorporates limestone additions while maintaining excellent performance for a wide range of construction applications.

The EPDs are aligned with international best practices, having been developed in accordance with EN 15804+A2 and ISO 14025, and independently verified. They meet the requirements of the DAPHabitat system and are also recognized by ECOPlatform, enabling their use in building sustainability certification schemes such as LEED, BREEAM, or Level(s).

With these EPDs, SECIL provides the market with robust tools for thorough environmental assessment of its cement products, supporting more sustainable decision-making by designers, contractors, and public authorities.
