Collecting data and Information compilation

According to the NP ISO 14025:2009 standard, when creating EPDs, all the relevant environmental aspects of the product from a life cycle-based perspective must be considered and included. Data must be generated with the principles, structure, methodologies, and assumptions established by the ISO standards 14040 (ISO 14040 and ISO 14044).

Data to be used in the creation of an EPD must comply with the prerequisites of the abovementioned norms and also according to the “DAPHabitat System General Instructions” document and the reference PCR.

Relevant Environmental Information to be included in an EPD

An EPD is composed of a set of verifiable information on the environmental performance of the product or service. The environmental information to be included in an EPD is essentially based on a LCA study, although it is crucial that additional environmental information is also encompassed.

The DAPHabitat System provides a model for creating EPDs. This model serves the purpose of facilitating and standardise the organisation and presentation of the information.

The mandatory contents to be included in an EPD are included in the reference PCR documents, as well as in the “DAPHabitat System General Instructions”. An EPD created according to the DAPHabitat System requisites must include the following contents:

  • General information to declare
  • EPD-related information
  • Product-related information
  • Environmental performance-related information of the product/service
  • EPD verification and registration-related information
